Writing Contest
Seven schools across Orlando participated in a writing contest I sponsored. I asked students to write an essay answering this prompt: Were you ever the new kid, or have you ever
encountered a new kid? What
was your experience like?
I spent several weeks reading the
entries, and I read each entry
three times before determing
the finalists and the grand prize
winners. I was so impressed
with the insight and creativity
of the writers; there were so
many good essays, it was
hard to choose winners. But
I did, and I'd like to share
them with you.
