How old are you?
To arrive at that number, one must understand quantum physics. I have been 29 for several years.
Where were you born?
I was born in Battle Creek, Michigan.
So you're from Michigan?
No, I'm from the Air Force! My dad was an Air Force recruiter and we moved all the time, living on base only once. (It was great.) Sometimes we stayed as short as six months, other times we stayed for three whole years.
Where all have you lived?
Michigan (two times), Missouri, Turkey, England, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida (three times), and Virginia. By the time I was fourteen, I'd lived in three countries and six states.
Where do you live now?
Orlando, Florida
What is your favorite pie?
Lemon meringue.
Are you married?
Yes, I married Steve Haworth. He's the only guy I ever kissed on the first date.
What is your favorite color?
Tie--pink and purple. Sometimes green.
Do you have children?
I have three children. I love them.
Do you have pets?

Is Violet Raines really you?
Violet is spunky, and much braver than I am. I'm scared of bugs. But I do like to spot alligators.
If Violet Raines becomes a movie, can I play Violet?
Only the directors and producers can choose who's in a movie. If it does become a movie, I hope you can audition for it. I myself will try to be an extra in the crowd scenes!
Is that you doing a cartwheel on the cover?
Hahahahaha! No.
How long does it take you to write a book?
The first draft can take three or four months; revisions come next.
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I cannot remember a time when I wasn't writing. I always wanted to be a writer.
Will you read my manuscript?
I don't offer such services, but there are many qualified people who do! Check the SCBWI website.
