I love visiting schools! Students ask great questions; they come with an open mind; and best of all, they're truly interested in the process of how an idea becomes a novel on bookstore shelves.
I have several presentations available. Talk to me! If you would like me to present and you have certain points on which you want me to concentrate, I can do that! Contact me by clicking the contact button on the lower right side of the screen.
All presentations include a dynamic slide show, student participation, and my favorite lame jokes. Presentation length can be adjusted to fit your schedule.
These are engaging sessions in which students not only have fun--they learn something in the process.
Reading, Writing, and Publishing
(Grades 4-5, 6-8) 55 minutes
In this session, I discuss my path to publication, how writers get ideas, story structure (arc, basic elements of a story, characterization), five tips for writers, a short reading, and a surprise ending!
Books are the Magic Ticket
(Grades 2-5) 45 minutes
I've solved hundreds of mysteries, met unusual people, and visited Alcatraz without ever leaving my home. In this session, I press the point that reading has the power to take you places you've never been and experience emotions that might surprise you. I also present the flip side, which is that by writing, you can deliver experiences you want to share by using the power of words.
My goal in this session is to inspire students in their reading habits, and maybe even spark future writers!

Fees
My schedule allows me to visit schools in the Orlando area. The fee for one session is $275; the fee for two sessions is $500. Mileage fees apply for schools of certain distances.
